Mount Isa Location Supportive Team Environment Unique Autonomous Opportunity About the role: Reporting through to the Head to Health Team Leader, your role will be to engage with communities across North-West Qld to promote access to mental health wellbeing and support services. Reaching consumers and professional networks via telephone, visiting in-person and attending events, your responsibilities will include: understanding local services and supports, and maintaining a detailed knowledge of the range of services available to these communities; engaging with local communities including peoples of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; supporting the development and maintenance of relationships with local GP’s and other service providers within the community, providing them with accurate information, and minimising gaps in mental health and wellbeing service delivery; supporting the delivery of the Head to Health Intake and Assessment Phone Service, utilising e-referral and digital support tools to assess clients’ needs and referring them to services; identifying and advocating for mental health and wellbeing service delivery, through greater connectivity and integration of existing services and providers; assisting and guiding individual consumers to access services; representing the organisation professionally in public settings; obtaining, maintaining and sharing relevant information regarding availability and capacity of mental health and wellbeing services within the region; and liaising with external providers such as professional mental health services, community services and other mental health support services, both government and non-government. About you: To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated experience engaging with and supporting others. You will have experience with the mental health sector, including via lived experience or working in human, social, community or health services. You may have a tertiary qualification in human services, social welfare, social work, psychology or behavioural science. You will possess: a high level of communication and rapport building skills, with the ability to communicate across culturally and linguistically diverse groups; relationship building and maintenance skills with all types of stakeholders; a broad knowledge of the community sector and primary health care; excellent time management and critical thinking skills, with the ability to work autonomously; and a passion for community mental health and wellbeing. If you do not already have experience with, you must be willing to undertake training in assessing consumer mental health and wellbeing needs. You must also be willing to undergo initial and regular national police and/or working with children state checks prior to and during the course of employment. A driver’s licence and competency in driving large distances in rural areas is essential.
