Please visit our website for more information about the Department of Home Affairs or Australian Border Force Our ideal candidate Immigration Compliance Operations Division is looking for confident, self-motivated people who are flexible, resilient, demonstrate professionalism and can exercise sound judgement, in responding to operational activities that are aimed at upholding the integrity of Australia's migration program and helping build a safe, secure and prosperous Australia. Given our roles are a current key priority for the Australian Government; the operational tempo is significantly heightened. Officers will need to integrate quickly (supported with appropriate training) to work effectively with other agencies in a dynamic, operational environment. The key duties of the position include Duties and responsibilities Dependant on your role, as an APS 6, ideally your broad skill set will enable you to; Maintain an understanding of relevant legislation and policy and apply in all aspects of your role Work independently with minimal direction and under operational command principles to supervise teams that deliver the support required for the effective conduct of the Australian Border Force's (ABF) operations Set and manage the day-to-day priorities of a team, coordinate work contributing to the planning and setting of timelines, manage effort and resources to achieve assigned tasks and team, program and Departmental outcomes Contribute to and lead operational briefings and internal, executive and ministerial reporting Provide technical expertise to support these activities with a reasonable level of autonomy and accountability Initiate, build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across internal and external networks Identify risk and conduct effective risk management in accordance with the appropriate risk management plan and the Department's risk management framework Deal with competing deadlines and priorities that often require expectation management and negotiation with stakeholders. These positions may be subject to medical, psychometric and fitness testing. Additional information Some positions across the teams are designated positions and will require you to meet all Border Force Officer essential qualifications. If successful for one of these positions, you will be required to: Be operationally ready (by meeting and sustaining the medical, fitness and psychometric requirements necessary for a role) Be sworn (through subscribing the ABF oath or affirmation) Be uniformed (unless the position requires wearing of business attire) Maintain essential and role-specific qualifications such as technical qualifications Actively participate in career management (ABF postings and deployments) Obtain and maintain an Employee Suitability Clearance (ESC) and an Australian Government security clearance (Baseline or Negative Vetting 1 - depending on the role). Some positions may further require you to: Complete Operational Safety training and be willing to carry and use personal defence equipment, including a firearm, if required Obtain and maintain a Working with Vulnerable People Check and/or Working With Children Check (role dependant) Australian Driver's licence (role dependant) Obtain and maintain a First Aid Certificate (role dependant) Ability to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card Work outside of business hours including weekends (overtime or shift work).
