The key duties of the position include Various Member positions, Fair Work Commission Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified persons for consideration for immediate or future appointment as a Fair Work Commission Member. Expressions of interest will remain under consideration for potential appointments over the next two years. Appointments may be considered for a range of categories of Member, with potential for multiple appointments to a particular category: Vice President Deputy President Commissioner Expert Panel Member The Fair Work Commission is Australia's workplace tribunal, established by the Fair Work Act 2009 . The Fair Work Commission has a range of statutory functions conferred by section 576 of the Act, including in relation to the National Employment Standards, modern awards, enterprise agreements, minimum wages, equal remuneration, unfair dismissal, industrial action, bullying and sexual harassment. Members are engaged in the Fair Work Commission's tribunal functions, including conciliating, hearing and determining workplace relations matters. The Australian Government is committed to a balanced Fair Work Commission that prioritises fairness, justice, transparency and openness. Vice President An appointee must: be, or have been, a Judge of a court created by the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia (except Division 2 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia); or have knowledge of, or experience in, one or more of the fields of workplace relations, law, or business, industry or commerce. Deputy President An appointee must: be, or have been, a Judge of a court created by the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia (except Division 2 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia) or of a court of a State or Territory; or have a high level of experience in the field of workplace relations, including a high level of experience that has been acquired through legal practice, in the service of a peak council or another association representing the interests of employers or employees, in the service of government or an authority of government, or in academia. Commissioner An appointee must have knowledge of, or experience in, one or more of the fields of: workplace relations; law; or business, industry or commerce. Expert Panel Member An appointee must have knowledge of, or experience in, one or more of the fields of: workplace relations; economics; social policy; business, industry or commerce; finance; investment management; superannuation; gender pay equity; anti-discrimination; or the Care and Community Sector. Basis of appointment Vice President, Deputy President and Commissioner positions are full-time statutory appointments until the appointee reaches the age of 65. The Expert Panel Member positions are part-time statutory appointments for up to five years. All appointments will be made by the Governor-General. The remuneration package is determined by the Remuneration Tribunal.
